1: THE NATURAL FIELD OF RADIATIONS

A healthy house should not cut it's occupants from the natural influences of the Earth and heavens. It should be the vessel where these energies can meet and be transmuted for the benefit of man. To obtain this, a construction must keep as much of the origional natural radiations of the environment as possible. Humanity has evolved within this field of radiations for over 40,000 generations and has developed a highly sensitive nervous system. Modern technology and new housing techniques have considerably deprived us of this contact with nature for only two generations. There has been little time for biological adaptation.

The influences generated by the heavens include solar radiations, the radiations of planetary bodies and, to a lesser extent, the stars. The intensity of these radiations varies according to latitude, altitude, weather and solar activity.

The earth's magnetic field and local geological characteristic generally bring about the influences generated by the earth. Our planet, being a great magnet with it's positive and negative poles, is surrounded by its own magnetic field ( the geomagnetic field) pulsating at the rate of 7,8 beats/second. The intensity of this field varies according to the location and the hour of the day.Magnetic disturbances have been observed over underground water streams and geological faults. Recent research in Germany and France shows that certain types of massive construction can reduce the effects of the geomagnetic to the extent of inducing different health problems such as heart disease. The German physicist Robert Endros studied this question with Professor KE Lotz of the School of Architecture of Biberach (West Germany). Their analysis of 400 deaths due to cancer revealed that 383 cases were related to dwelling - over geological faults, underground waterveins and disturbances of the natural geomagnetic field.

A well known and documented cause of disease is the radioactive gas Radon 222, produced by the disintegration of Uranium 238 in Uranium - rich minerals. It is found in greater concentration in well- insulated and poorly ventilated spaces.

In the Thirties, Dr s. Jenny in Aarau (Switzerland) experimented with the effects of geological faults and underground streams on 25,000 mice for a period of 12 years. Mice in cages placed over a perturbation of the geomagnetic field became agitated, gnawed their tails and even ate their offspring, sometimes developing cancerous tumours. When placed over a neutral zone they became more settled. If a cage was to be placed partly over such a perturbation (geopathic zone) and partly on a healthy zone the mice preferred to stay on the latter.

In France, beekeepers place hives over underground waterveins. Such hives can produce up to three times more honey than bees positioned a few feet away, but according to these beekeepers, the life span of these bees is considerably shortened and they are more aggressive.

THE HARTMANN GRID (H grid)

For some years researchers such as Dr Hartmann (Director of the Committee for Geobiology, Eberbach - Waldkatzenbach - Waldbrunn), Dr Palme, Prof Endros, KE Lotz and many others have studied the undeniable influence of electromagnetic fields on living organisms.

According to the researches of Dr Hartmann, the geomagnetic field is composed of active and neutral zones,the active areas being lines 21cm wide with the neutral zone lying between the lines.

These lines form a North - South, East - West grid; they are about 2.0m apart on the North - South axis and 2.5m apart on the East - West axis in the Temperate Zone.

The crossing points of these lines are considered to be unhealthy if one is to remain over them for long periods of time as in a bed or at a workstation for example. The regularity of the H-grid can also be affected by manmade disturbances such as high tension power-lines, roads etc.

The effect of a crossing or knot in the grid can be amplified by other local characteristics such as an underground stream or a geological fault making that particular spot potentially dangerous. According to Prof. Endros, trees growing on the crossing of the grid are prone to being hit by lightning, especially if they are near or over an underground stream. Most trees or plants showing deformities are found on such "knots" of the H-grid, and on these the Romans used to build sham wells dedicated to Jupiter and consecrated to "Fulgur Conditum" (buried lightning).

Animals and very young children have not lost their instinct to feel if a place is healthy or not. In the morning one can often see children cramped into one side of their beds. Oriented differently from when they were tucked in. It is wise to determine then if the bed is well positioned. Sensitive adults will not sit in a particular spot often without being able to explain why they feel uncomfortable.

Animals in pastures will avoid a disturbed zone to the extent that one could follow their paths by looking at the area that has been grazed.

Through out history, animals have constituted the economical base of rural properties and the greatest care has been taken to build healthy shelters for them. We see very few old farm buildings built on a perturbated area. Most of the cases of diseased animals observed by Prof. Endros living over geopathic zones have been observed in new installations built in the last decades.

It is interesting to observe that cats and ants will thrive over a spot submitted to radiation, but dogs or mice will avoid them. According to Prof. Endros the statistical study of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) show high differences in frequency depending on the location, which led him to the supposition that SIDS may be caused by local factors. Further studies in German and American studies by Egon Eckertf of Newton showed that most cases were distributed along high power lines. The conjunction of high power lines, underground water streams and H grid crossing should be considered as extreme perturbation of the ambient field. It should be essential to have a correct positioning of beds in places where people have a diminished resistance and health, such as hospitals. According to the Institute of Geobiology of Lausanne (Switzerland) 30% of the patients studied showed signs of improvement after having their beds shifted from active zones.

To diminish or enhance the energy of a house the accumulation of many factors is required. These elements can be roughly ordered in three interdependent levels.

The physical level deals with all the known effects related to the quality of the ground (i.e. geological fault, water streams, Radon....etc), to the quality of the location ( i.e. pollution, noise...etc) and the quality of the construction.

We have slowly come to realise the great influence that building materials have on our health, both physical and psychological. One can easily imagine oneself stroking a piece of wood, feeling its softness and warmth. The tree has grown out of the energies of the Earth, the water and the cosmos. It radiates a message of life very different from that of a piece of polystyrene or plastic. But even the best of materials can be killed by toxic chemical treatments which are slowly releasing poisonous emanations such as Lead, Cadmium, Formaldehyde, Phenols, Organochlorine....etc. They are known to cause nausea, headaches, insomnia, asthma, brain damage and even cancer.

The energy level includes the positioning of the house on the Hartmann grid and other tellurian currents, electromagnetic pollution and the Faraday cage effect due to bad earthing of electric installation, reinforcement of concrete slabs and steel frames.

In recent years, the rapid proliferation of artificial sources of radioelectric frequencies has become a cause for concern. It has surpassed many times the productionof natural sources. According to a German specialist, Wolfgang Volkrodt, electromagnetic pollution has increased a hundred times during the past 30 years. Ten to fifteen percent of cancers affecting American children could be caused by low frequency electromagnetic fields aroundhigh voltage power lines: this is the astonishing affirmation of the New York Power Lines Project. This study group was formed by the commission responsible for the power grid of the State of New York.

The symbolic or spiritual level, which is the least recognised, is also the most important in the sense that it is the definition of the quality of the whole. Most of us can feel clearly the difference of ambience in extremes (i.e. between abattoirs and churches) and be strongly affected by them; persons endowed with a greater sensitiivity would perceive subtle differences that would nevertheless unconsciously influence us. According to B. Merz (Institute of Geobiology of Chardonne, Lausanne in Switzerland) just as a place can make us prone to disease or depression, another can lift us to more subtle levels of vibration, strengthening our body and spirit. Such places were sought after throughout history and held as sacred. Some are natural wonders like Ayers Rock, the Aborigines have long known this, the Grand Canyon, the Matterhorn and countless other places on this planet which inspire the millions of modern pilgrims we call tourists. Others are man made poles of attraction built on powerful sites by architects - priests obeying a sacred tradition, like the pyramids of Egypt, the statues of Easter Island or many Gothic cathedrals. The site on which the cathedral of Chartres is erected was already considered sacred by the Celts.

2:CELL PHONES

A United Kingdom based biologist, Roger Coghill has recently published research on damage to the immune system caused by mobile phones.

Coghll found that after exposure to the microwave radiation from mobile handsets for three hours, only one-third of white blood cells were able to carry out their role of defending the body against infectious diseases and tumours. Further, the specific radiation from the cell phone seems to target an 'orb-shape' - it literally fries your eyes.

Cellphone companies could be held liable for any damage to health caused by their products, according to a Johannesburg attourney.

Peter Soller issued this warning after six cellphone manufacturers conceded in patent applications that they were seeking to reduce the health risks that accompanied the use of their products.

Soller said that the time was near when cellphone companies could be taken to court. "Up to now they have been negligent in not warning users of possible health risks", he said. Soller said he had been closely following scientific research on the use of cellphones.

"It's a fact that continued exposure (to cellphones) is dangerous. The problem is that the effects only start to show after a number of years. We need a test case that will avert these problems", he said. According to a report in the UK newspaper, The Independent on Sunday, six cellphone manufacturers - including Alcatel, Ericcson and Hitachi - have stated inpatent applications for new phone components that the products are aimed at reducing health risks.

The applications mention maintaining"safe distances" between the users body and the products. Some of the applications date back more than five years, which suggests that the compnies have long known that mobile phones pose a health risk.

Up to now, the cellphone industry has been emphatic in denying that it's products may be harmful, despite numerous reports and research findings to the contrary.

Attourney Ron Wheeldon, who specialises in intellectual property, trademark and copyright law, said that under South African law a person would have to prove a company had deliberately misrepresented the dangers of cellphones and that there was a causal link between the product and the damage to a persons health.

" It's a difficult case to prove," he added. A cellphone is the only radiation - emitting consumer product that people intentionally hold against their heads. The electromagnetic energy emitted is microwave radiation similar to the type that cooks food in a microwave.

Scientists say the brain may absorb up to 60 percent of the energy emitted from a cellphones antenna and although some researchers say those levels are not hazardous, they are near the top end of international safety recommendations.

At a major conference in London last month, a representative of an international insurance company told delegates that mobile phone companies could be held responsible for any damage to the health of members of the public resulting from the use of their phones.

The patent applications are considered integral to future court actions against the cellphone industry, as they provide evidence it knew about the health risks. Repeated attempts to get comment from Ericcson SA and the South African representatives of the French -based mobile phone company Alcatel were unsuccessful.

It is encouraging to see that a number of "positive energy"devices have emerged in the market place recently. Applied Kinesiology muscle testing shows the Vortex cellphone protector to offer a substantially superior protection to anything else available.

Danger: Using your cellphone could be a serious health risk but it would take 5 years for the results to come through. But he cautioned: "If we wait for conclusive evidence, we could be faced with a disaster."

Cellular phone manufacturers may soon be forced to put health warnings on their products if a British bioogist has his way.This week Dr Roger Coghill who operates an independent radiation laboratory in Wales, brought a private criminal court action against a UK cellphone store in a bid to make cellphone manufacturers concede there was a possibility that prolonged use could jeopardise health.

Coghill is not the first person to go to court over a cellphone. In the US, cellular phone company Motorola is being sued by a doctors wife who claimed her cardiologist husband died, aged 41, from a brain tumour caused by cellular phones. The case will have its first hearing on September1.

Coghill wants phones to come with a health warning, in much the same way as cigarette boxes carry warnings. His court action follows a study conducted by military scientists that found prolonged exposure to cellular phone radiation could cause short term memory loss and confusion.

The tests carried out at the Defence Establishment Research Agency by the UK Defence Minister and the Department of Health found that signals disrupted parts of the brain that were in charge of memories and learning.

This finding casts further doubt over the safety of cellphones and joins a host of other studies that have indicated the use of cellphones may cause a rise in blood pressure and may harm pregnant women. They have also been linked to fatigue, headaches, nausea, memory loss,brain tumours and cancer.

Earlier research had ahown that as much as 70% of the radiation emitted by a cellphone The studies done in the US and UK found energy absorbed by was absorbed by the users head. the brain created "hot spots". Prior to this scientists assumed energy absorbed by the head was evenly distributed.

In the latest UK study, scientists stress their experiments were carried out on rats and there was still no proof that phones could do longterm damage to humans.

But the director of the Research. DR Rick Hold, said:" This is the first real evidence that these sort of radio waves do have an effect on the brain".

In studies done last year in the US, scientists found that rats exposed to 45 mins of microwave radiation similar to the levels emitted by cellphones lost their abilities to learn simple tasks.

"And usually what damages a rats brain can damage a human brain", said Hold.

Coghill said:" Anyone who uses a cellular phone for more than 20 mins at a time needs to have their head examined". He said research was ongoing He said the mobile phone was the biggest domestic appliance source of radiation invented. " And we use it close to the most sensitive organ of the body".

Greg Baxter, the chief executive officer of Johannesburg based What Media, a monthly cellphone magazine, strongly endorsed the view of Australian cancer specialist, Dr John Holt, that people with cancer should not use mobile phones at all.

Baxter said: " If you are genetically prone to cancer, such a high level of radiation can set that process in motion."

Mandy Chips of Radiation Cellutions - the SA distributors of a protective covering designed to shield the cellphone- user from 90 percent of the radiations emitted - said " In as much as the cellular phone industry insists there is no conclusive evidence to prove cellphones are not safe, there is even less evidence to prove they are safe.

The number of health complaints related to cellphones implies that safety standards are inadequate.

New tests show psychological effects of cellphones

London - scientists have found that radiation emitted by mobile telephones can affect a users short-term ability to perform simple mental tasks.

This study carried out at Bristol Royal Infirmary, western England, and sponsored by the Department of Health, offers the firsst objective evidence that the telephones, used by 8.5 million people in Britain, may alter memory and interfere with concentration and spatial awareness.

It follows a study by Dera, research agency of the Ministry of Defence, showing that the emissions alter nerve cell behavior in rat brains. The study found marked changes in the behaviour of the part of the brain controlling short-term memory and learning.

In the Bristol experiments, researchers fastened a transmitter that emitted microwaves identical to those produced by most mobile telephones to volunteers heads for half an hour at a time. The volunteers were asked to perform psychological tests to measure their memory, spatial awareness, reaction time and vigilance. Dr Alan Preece, who led the study, found a clear ffect of participants responses and will publish his results later this year.

He said last week that his research had already persuaded him to change his own telephone for a model with lower emissions.

" I used to have an older analogue phone but when I started to get deep into the research, I realised the effect they may have. You have a few watts per kilogram of energy being dumped straight into a small volume of your head," he said. Dr Preece tested radiation at a frequency of 900 Mhz . This is the frequency used by Cellnet and Vodaphone mobile phones. By contrast, the Orange and One - 2 - One networks use a frequency of 1800 Mhz, so Dr Preece's study will not apply directly to people using those networks.

He emphasised that it was too early to outline the study's exact conclusions but said users should choose telephones with low emission levels and fit an earpiece and microphone allowing them to be operated without being held close to the head.
